Final Version – Nuthin Important to Say

Here is the final version, complete with corrected lyrics.  On the demo I messed up the first line of the third verse.

Peace,

Nuthin Important to Say

Hey Friends,

Music is in motion again. A few things are happening and the creative flow is…well, flowing.

For those in Kentucky I am now in regular rotation at JP’s Bar & Grill in Paducah. I have played twice and have two more dates scheduled so far, the 18th and 28th of this month. I play from 6:30 – 9:30 so come grab dinner and enjoy some music.

There is more I’ll share soon but my real reason for posting now is this:

Tonight I wrote a new song that I want to share in its demo stage.

Nuthin Important to Say

Your peace is fragile, yes, I know
don’t go to deep don’t rock the boat
don’t you worry it’ll be great
I aint got nuthin important to say
for a change

and everything I’ve come to see
and everything I’m lettin go
and everything I wanna say
and everything I really feel
just gets
pushed down, pushed down, pushed down
shhhh
pushed down, pushed down, pushed down
shhhh

I’ll keep the peace I’ll walk the line
I’ll bite my lip one more time
I’ll count to ten I’ll practice zen
I aint got nuthin important to say
for a change

and everything I’ve come to see
and everything I’m lettin go
and everything I wanna say
and everything I really feel
just gets
pushed down, pushed down, pushed down
shhhh
pushed down, pushed down, pushed down
shhhh

Trunk and tusk in the room
we’ll laugh it off like we do
awkward silence in an easy chair
nervous fingers runnin through your hair
I’ll segue out it’s gettin late
I aint got nuthin important to say
for a change

and everything you fear to see
and everything you can’t let go
and everything you wanna say
and everything you really feel
just gets
pushed down, pushed down, pushed down
shhhh
pushed down, pushed down, pushed down
shhhh

Your peace is fragile, yes, I know

*Disclaimer
The line, “I’ll practice Zen” is a tongue in cheek way of getting the point across. I have no experience with Zen. Simply referencing common sense ways to calm oneself or relieve frustration without all the hocus pocus.

It’s a song.

Sun Rays, Turtle Crossings and Following the Flow

IMG_20160425_080006[1]

OK, it’s story time.

This morning I decided to head to a local country restaurant for breakfast. While on the way I was taking in the beauty of the natural clouds (rare) and the sun rays coming through them. Sun rays are of interest lately for reasons I wont go into here but I was really digging what I was seeing. As I kept an eye out for a place to pull over and get a good shot, I got a little frustrated a couple times when someone was right behind me and I could not pull over at the spots I wanted to.

Then I got that sense that there was more to this excursion than me getting a quick photo. I continued down the road yielding in my spirit to the Fathers lead, open to anything that may present itself.

A couple minutes later I come to an open field that would allow for a good shot. I travel a little further to turn around and head back to the spot and capture the moment. On the way to my photo spot I spot a turtle just starting across the road. It is after all, turtle crossing season here in West Kentucky. So I pass the little critter up, get my shot and turn around again to go help him across the road so he doesn’t end up part of the road.

As I am heading that way, scanning the side of the road I see no turtle. I pass a slow moving car and the driver waves at me. I turn around again and the guy is pulling over and waves me over. I pull up and he says, “I got im”. I paused looking at him like he just read my mail.

I say,

“The turtle?”

“Yeah, I got im and set im off the road.”

“How’d you know what I was up to?”

“I could tell. I stop for em all the time.”

Laughing,

“Yeah, me too!”

I got out and we hit it off like old friends. I gave him a CD  and we talked about music, love for animals and how crows are smarter than some people we know.

So I guess the message is, remember to yield to the flow… because you never know…..

You may get the opportunity to save a critter or meet another kindred soul.

Grace & Peace,

rob

The Story Begins…

After receiving the idea and outline, including several song titles for a new concept album this past Sunday, I have the first demo.

The story is about a meeting and union of spirit between two characters. Old Soul and The Minstrel.

Old Soul is unique in that he breathes sound to live. He has no mouth or nose. He is wise and sensitive to the turmoil of the world.

BAIH demo art cropThe Minstrel is one of the few who can see and hear Old Soul. Old Soul speaks through his eyes from his heart and mind. The two bond and the Minstrel becomes Old Souls voice…

The lyrics for this first song are Here.

I am excited about this project and will share more soon…

Grace & Peace,

rob

Driftwood Scavenger – Natural Progressions CD Release

DSC01038Driftwood Scavenger – Natural Progressions is complete. I had originally posted 3 songs last year as an “album in progress”. I added two more songs a little later and now the last three are done as well as the final remixes and mastering.

This album is an all instrumental dynamic ambient/acoustic journey to where ever it takes you.

The sounds all originate from acoustic and electric guitars but take on other dimensions with layers of effects and multiple tracks.

DSC01066

I wanted to do something more creative than the lifeless paper sleeves that I have used in the past so I had the Driftwood Scavenger logo that I drew a few years ago turned into a rubber stamp and got some recycled cardboard sleeves that really go well with stamped art.

The disc itself features the same laser etching that I have used on CD’s for years.

CD’s can  be ordered by clicking the “buy” link below.

For more about the packaging and a bundle deal on two albums for $20.00, click HERE.
